Dixon Trail Project

Dixon Trail Project

Top of Cheyenne Mountain at Cheyenne Mountain State Park

This summer, you can help work on the new Dixon Trail that will access the top of Cheyenne Mountain. Work days will be announced soon, so watch our volunteer calendar at www.openspacevolunteers.org for details.

This is a moderately strenuous and extremely rewarding project, which requires quite a bit of hiking. Because of the long hike in, tools will be carried in by ATV, so you’ll only have to carry tools the last half-mile or so. Volunteers should meet at the Visitor Center parking lot at 7:00 AM. We will work till 1:30-2:00.

If you are interested in helping on a trail crew, and haven’t already registered, contact Ranger Mount at darcy.mount@state.co.us. Our crews are lead by experienced crew leaders. On work days, please wear long pants, sturdy work shoes, and work gloves, and bring rain gear, sun-screen, insect repellent, eye-protection, and plenty of water. Bring a lunch on trail days. If you have questions, please contact: co.jbusher@gmail.com. or 719-331-5931.
